As you realize that Sydney is
only a small part of Australia, there is an enormous amount to see. So
we here at Southern Cross Safaris, have designed several tours that
take in the diversity that Australia has to offer.
6-Day Winery Tour.
Tour code (WT)
From your Hotel we journey
North along the Pacific Hwy. stopping for morning tea at Moonie Moonie
Lookout, after which we turn left and head toward Wollombi for lunch.
Leaving this historic town we motor into Cesnock where we set camp, dinner
and bed down for the night. After a leisurely breakfast we observe the
art of wine making OZ style, which leads us to the tasting thing. Lunch
is at small town a short distance away. The afternoon is spent tasting
more of the fine wines of the area. The next day we break camp, after breakfast,
and head West over the mountains to the historic town of Mudgee, stopping
for lunch along the way. Dinner and a good nights rest. After a hearty
breakfast we discover some of the wineries of this area, which are different
to the Hunter region. Lunch is at the town of Gulgong in one its historic
pubs. (The famous Australian poet, Henry Lawson spent much of his time
in this area.). Back to Mudgee for an afternoon of leisure exploring the
history of the surrounding area. The next morning we break camp and head
into the hills where our next stop, after lunch, is in the historic gold
mining town of Hill End. Here you can try your hand at gold panning
(you may get lucky!!!). After yet another dinner, sleep and breakfast we
pack up camp to head back toward Sydney, stopping for lunch in Katoomba
at the 3 Sisters/ Echo Point Lookout, to finally arrive back at your Hotel.

10-Day Surfing Trip.
Tour Code (SC)
After picking you up from
your Hotel we head off down the South Coast towards Wollongong stopping
at some secluded spots for a wave or two. As you can appreciate, this tour
is governed by weather and wave conditions, but every effort will be made
to find the best surf that the coast has to offer. Eventually we will end
up in Melbourne, visiting such places as Bells Beach, Phillip Island, Shark
Island and Voodoo just to name a few. As with all Southern Cross Safaris,
"tucker" is supplied. You can have a custom designed surfboard for this
tour (cost extra) to keep as a souvenir of your journey. An order form
will be available at the time of booking.
14-Day Outback. Tour
Code (OB)

Pick up from your Hotel, we
head over the Great Dividing Range toward the town of Mudgee, where we
stop for lunch. From here we journey northward through the town of Gulgong
(The town on the old Ten Dollar Note) to make camp at the town of Coonamble.
The next day we travel to the Opal mining town of Lightning Ridge, where
it is possible to pick up some of the famous Black Opal. We stay over night
here. Next day following breakfast we make tracks for Cunnamulla and on
to Thargomindah for another overnight stay. Here the fishing is said to
be excellent, so if they are biting we are staying an extra night, if not
we will journey to the nearby conservation park for some bird watching,
then back to camp. From Thargomindah we hit the real outback, toward the
town of Innaminka on the banks of the Cooper Creek, where we set camp for
two days. Here I know the fishing is great and it's the last resting-place
of two of Australia's famous inland explorers. Leaving Innaminka we head
south along the Strezlecki track (one of Australia's many desert tracks)
passing the natural gas fields of Moomba. We take a left turn to head into
the Flinders Ranges, where we spend two days exploring the area. After
leaving the Flinders we turn our tour toward home for a couple of nights
in Broken Hill, visiting the art galleries of Pro Hart and the Brushmen
of the Bush. From here it's a short two-day journey back to Sydney. The
length of this trip is dependent upon weather and track conditions. |
